Dear Antoine Fiévet,

I have been informed by the global union federation, the IUF, that workers at Bel Karper in Çorlu, Turkey have been on strike since May 17, 2021 because your company refuses to enter into negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement.

I have also learned that Groupe Bel spent six years and considerable expense in a legal fight to obstruct the wishes of its own employees to be represented by their union Tekgıda-İş. The court’s final judgement was in the union’s favour and yet Groupe Bel continues to prevent its employees from accessing their rights to organize and to collectively bargain.

I call on you to recognize the legitimate right of your employees to be represented by their union and to enter immediately into good faith negotiations with the union with the objective of establishing a collective bargaining agreement and ending the strike.
